I KNOW I SHOCKED some people in the Jewish community when I said I believed Melbourne’s conservative Yeshivah College had been as evil as the Catholic Church in its protection of paedophiles.

I used expressions like ‘skullcap skulduggery’and ‘the yarmulke conspiracy’ when comparing the protection of predators by rabbis to the Catholics’ brutal and calculated treatment of victims.

Today’s editorial from HinchTube is video proof of how extensive those cover-ups were.

And a timely postscript about another Jewish college, another scandal that Manny briefly mentioned. This time involving the former female principal of the Adass Israel School for girls in Elsternwick.

Malka Leifer, a mother of eight, has been detained in Israel and will be extradited to face dozens of allegations of child sex offences against her students between 2001 and 2008.

It is alleged, that after questions were raised and she was sacked by the school board in 2008, Leifer was encouraged by senior rabbis to leave Australia before police were notified of the allegations of child sex abuse. Sounds familiar. Right, Manny?
