In the wake of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse end the ensuing resignation of Rabbi Meir Kluwgant from the presidency of the Organisation of Rabbis of Australasia, ORA has been rebadged to NORA.
At a special meeting of the ORA Executive the decision was made to create a New ORA (NORA) to manage the affairs of the Rabbis of Australasia.
Rabbi Selwyn Franklin has been installed as interim President. An interim Executive was set up and a meeting will be held at short notice to create a modus operandi for the new organisation.
It was also decided that all honorary positions and titles of the old ORA be vacated pending the establishment of NORA. The first order of business will be to create a membership committee chaired by Rabbi Franklin which will carefully consider and vet all applications for membership of NORA to ensure a membership of the highest ethical integrity. All Rabbis are invited to apply for membership of the new organisation.
The fledgling organisation will hold its inaugural general meeting in May.
Rabbi Franklin can be contacted on [email protected].
